A complete guide to CBD Vape

An Essential Guide to CBD Vape Oil

I’m sure you’ve all seen some giant vape clouds at some point! Well, it’s vape. Vaping has gained a lot of popularity in Ireland in the last decade. As it is now used as an alternative to smoking, including the popularity of CBD oil increasing too, many are combing the two to improve their health/wellness. While it’s common for young adults to vape, the CBD community has chosen vape over cannabis smoking around the globe. So, there’s definitely a lot to learn.

What is Vaping?

Vaping took the cannabis and tobacco industries by storm during the mid-2000s and became a large part of pop-culture and everyday life and has quickly become a preferred method of CBD consumption.

A vaporizer (aka a vape) is a device used to inhale a substance. Plant material is commonly used for inhalation such as tobacco, cannabis and various other dry herbs and waxy concentrates. Synthetic organic compounds like glycol, glycerin, and propylene, along with drugs such as nicotine and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC – the chemical compound from cannabis that gets you high) can be used in the form of a liquid (also known as an E-liquid).

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil (aka cannabidiol), is extracted in oil form, from the cannabis plant. CBD products are legal in Ireland because they don’t produce any psychoactive effects. There’s no way you can overdose or even get stoned on this stuff. The benefits of CBD are multitude — and it’s known to help relieve pain, anxiety, and it acts as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Studies also show that CBD oil from the cannabis plant can help treat seizure disorders, depression, and even cancer.

There are many ways of ingesting CBD while vaping is a more bioavailable way of consuming CBD. This is because the vape goes straight to your lungs, then to the capillaries and directly to the bloodstream. Other methods for bioavailability include edibles, tinctures, and topical creams.

Picking the Right Vaping Device for CBD Vape

There are hundreds of different devices on the market that all perform differently. They also range from very compact, small devices that are meant to simulate a cigarette, i.e, e-cigarettes, to vape pens and large box mods that are meant for a voluminous amount! Which, makes it a bit of a minefield when trying to choosing the best to fit your needs.

If you already vape for nicotine addiction or just for sh*ts and gigs and are thinking about using CBD vape, then you’re better of buying a brand new vaporizer. Vape pens are usually the go-to for consuming CBD. They are less expensive than mod boxes, are good quality and easy to use. The reason why I recommend you to have a separate vape device for CBD is that it can be potent. Keep in mind that CBD oil is just about thicker than water, this is another reason why you should choose vape-pens over mod boxes. Big chambers, tanks, and coils increase the chances of the liquid seeping out of the air holes, which will end up in your pocket, handbag and all over your expensive device. Pod systems and starter kits are your best options.

Picking the Right Liquid

Vape juice or E-Liquids come in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. Your options here are pretty much endless. Here are a few top tips and must-knows for purchasing CBD vape. But first thing is first, most CBD liquids are made up of 50%VG (Vegetable Glycerin) and 50% PG (Propylene Glycol). Always keep an eye out on the PG/VG ratio since the PG is used to dissolve the CBD into the liquid, which makes the vape oil way more liquidy.

I’ve tried a mod box and a vape pen for smoking CBD. For me, using the smaller, vape-pen device resulted in a better experience, so I use my powerful mod box with high VG nicotine E-Liquids for when I want nicotine and a vape-pen for when I want CBD.

1. Hemp oil is not CBD oil: While they both come from the same cannabis family, hemp oil contains fewer amounts of CBD. If you find a product that says “hemp oil”, and you notice that it is very cheap, it’s because it has very low amounts of CBD.

2. CBD Oil is not the same as CBD Vape: CBD oil comes in a tincture form, and its method of consumption is under the tongue. Do not add this oil to your vape-pen. There are CBD Vape oils and E-Liquids especially made for vaporizers.

4. In Ireland, make sure that the CBD oil doesn’t contain anything above 0.3% THC. This is because THC (the psychoactive compound found in cannabis) is still currently illegal in Ireland.

4. Make sure you get the dose right: CBD vape juice comes in different sizes but are commonly bought in 10ml bottles. If you are using CBD to treat a medical condition, and you know how much CBD you should take, keep in mind that, concentration levels of CBD differ. For example, you could have a 10ml bottle, with 250mg of CBD. CBD makes up only 2.5% of CBD in the liquid. If a 100ml bottle had 250mg of CBD, it contained 0.25% of CBD. Bigger bottles are generally more expensive and expensive doesn’t always mean better. Instead, you should be spending your money on products that contain more CBD.

Personally, I use Ambience CBD, in the flavor strawberry. It is a 10ml bottle with 200mg of CBD. It helps keep my anxiety at bay and it tastes pretty good. While I also vape nicotine, I never mix CBD and nicotine together. This is because nicotine degrades the effects of CBD (however, more depth-research needs to be carried out on that topic). If your local vape shop is selling CBD and nicotine-infused oils, stay clear for now (to be sure to be sure).

My all-time favourite however, is a disposable vape pen created by dosist they are tiny little (and discrete) pens that come pre-filled and they come in two different sizes that are measured in doses (200 doses or 50 doses). They have a few formulas to choose from such as sleep, bliss, calm, relief etc. Personally I used the calm formula.
